One STEP assembly in. Every part priced, one unit cost out.
ARCNM reads the assembly's product tree and prices each unique component once, at the quantity the whole order needs. Then it adds fixturing, joining and every step after it. You get one unit cost for the assembly, and every euro traces back to the component or step behind it.
The sample bracket, rolled up
ARC-1022 is a welded bearing bracket: a base plate, a web and two gussets, four bodies in one STEP file. The gusset appears twice, so ARCNM prices it once, at a lot of 20 for 10 brackets. The table below is the engine's own result for the STEP file alone.
| Pos. | Component | Qty | Priced at lot | Made by | Unit | Line |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Base plate | 1 | 10 | cut from sheet | €14.44 | €14.44 |
| 2 | Web | 1 | 10 | milled from plate | €13.81 | €13.81 |
| 3 | Gusset | 2 | 20 | milled from plate | €7.75 | €15.49 |
| Components | €43.74 | |||||
| Fixturing and tacking | €11.13 | |||||
| Overhead | €0.00 | |||||
| Unit cost at lot 10 | €54.87 |
It tells you what it could not see
That run had no drawing, and the engine said so in two review flags. The model carries no weld callout, so the weld deposit is priced at zero. Fixturing and tacking are priced from the geometry. No material is stated, so the components are priced on the environment's default. Attach the assembly drawing and both gaps close. A step it cannot price stays on the route with its reason. An incomplete assembly shows a lower bound instead of an offer price.
The route after the parts
- Fixturing and tacking, timed from the assembly's mass and structure.
- Joining: weld seams from the drawing's ISO 2553 symbols, with lengths from the 3D contacts. Bolted and press-fit joints come with their DIN 8593 codes.
- After joining: straightening, stress relief and machining after welding (a bore 'drilled after welding'). Then coating and inspection to ISO 5817 / ISO 13920.
- Sheet components of the same grade and gauge are nested together on shared sheets.
- Several drawings can be uploaded with one assembly. Each is matched to its component.
Frequently asked questions
Can ARCNM calculate an assembly from one STEP file?
Yes. It reads the product tree in the STEP file and prices every unique component as its own calculation. The assembly route is added on top. Flat multi-body exports without a tree are split into their solids.
How are repeated parts priced?
Once. Identical components are recognised from their geometry, wherever they sit in the assembly. They are priced at the combined quantity. Two gussets per bracket in a lot of 10 brackets make a lot of 20 gussets.
What if one component cannot be priced?
It stays in the BOM with the reason and what would fix it. The assembly total is then marked as a lower bound and carries no offer price. So an incomplete number is never sent as a quote.
